The merging of landscape with figure in my three-dimensional paintings illustrates my belief that quality of life is deeply connected with our environment. The use of maps in my work is a means of calling attention to how much time we spend in man-made environments and how these environments shape us.

The tradition in painting is to stretch linen over a flat wooden frame, the outcome of which is a flat piece of art. My creative process expands the two-dimensional concept of painting. I custom build each frame using a furniture making technique which gives the painting a curvature. Once hung on the wall the viewer can then take a more active roll in viewing the piece, as the surface and imagery change depending on the vantage point.
